He began his swim on October 15, 1994 at 10:00 am and reached his goal the next day at 9:21 am, after kicking for 19.36 hours of real underwater time. He rested a total of 4 hours and 24 minutes, swimming about 1-3/4 miles per hour for over 19 miles! Hilbert trained under C.N.C. 	John Chatterton Excellerating Force Fin John Chatterton is one of the World's most accomplished and well-known wreck divers. Over the past 25 years, his passion for research and exploration of deep sea wrecks has taken him on over 160 dives to the Andrea Doria, to the RMS Lusitania as a member of the first technical diving expedition in 1994, and to the wreck of the HMHS Britannica, where at 400 feet he was the first diver to use rebreather diving technology there.
