Dr Harvey Barnett is an underwater photographer, researcher and waterman. He conducted research proving the physiological advantages of Force Fins.
His research was comprehensive, monitoring things like carbon dioxide uptake, lactic acid production, fatigue factors, in many different individuals, wearing many different flippers in controlled situations in a pool.
Force Fins proved to be so vastly superior to anything else that he personally tested, that he has worn them ever since.
"Truly the best fins for breaking this record." Jens Hilbert - on the PRO Force Fin
Jens Hilbert reclaimed the long distance underwater swimming record in Bremen, Germany by traveling a staggering 34 miles
(over 55 km!) in less than 24 hours. He began his swim on October 15, 1994 at 10:00 am and reached his goal the next day at 9:21 am, after kicking for 19.36 hours of real underwater time. He rested a total of 4 hours and 24 minutes, swimming about 1-3/4 miles per hour for over 19 miles!
Hilbert trained under C.N.C. Head Coach Peter Knipp for a year and one-half, conditioning himself for the event by working out 10 to 35 hours per week, in addition to his rigorous athletic schedule required in his profession as a German Combat Diver.
John Chatterton is one of the World's most accomplished and well-known wreck divers. Over the past 25 years, his passion for research and exploration of deep sea wrecks has taken him on over 160 dives to the Andrea Doria, to the RMS Lusitania as a member of the first technical diving expedition in 1994, and to the wreck of the HMHS Britannica, where at 400 feet he was the first diver to use rebreather diving technology there. As co-host for the very successful 57 episodes of History Channel's "Deep Sea Detectives" John has helped to bring understanding of the rigors of deep sea wreck diving to the World.
Throughout most of John's diving career he has worn Force Fins because of their "performance and comfort". His current favorite is the Excellerating Force Fin. If purchased through this link, a portion of your funds go toward the work of John's favorite charity, SUDS (Soldiers Undertaking Disabled SCUBA). SUDS shows soldiers who were badly wounded in Iraq or Afganistan how much we appreciate them and their sacrifice by welcoming them to diving.
